Recognition of Prior Learning
The recognition of prior learning (RPL) describes a process used to evaluate skills and knowledge gained through life outside of formal education and training, for the purpose of recognising life achievements against a given set of standards or learning outcomes. A training provider formally recognises your previous experience, such as work experience, informal training or volunteering, and counts this towards a qualification. RPL is also known as prior learning assessment (PLA), or prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR).
